Turn Around Happening, 2010, Marionetten-Ballett für 6 Mitspieler |
Like in her other ballet pieces metamat entanglement ballett, 2009 and superfemmes, 2010 Patricia London Ante Paris combines criticism of our system with interdisciplinary art forms (like dance, art, music, film) and a modernist vocabulary.
The Turn Around Happening connects in its title words from economy and art. A turnaround with spending cuts and job dismissals is used in a business concern for improving profits. A happening is an artistic activity at which the audience participates with ambiguous denouement.
Turn Around Happening is a string puppetry ballet for 4-6 players as willing assistants, but theit latitude is limited. The whole piece is based on air that fills abstract and figurative forms. All forms and assistants are wearing The Invisible Head paper hats with names playing with homonymous meanings from physics and economy like de- and inflation.
The bubbling colourful proliferation is being identified as virgo supercluster, where our galaxy is situated, as well as global industry. The names of the black doll black matter, oil, hunger refer to physical and economic questions. The black abstract object coming out of the mouth of the black doll, the fatal copremesis called miserere (latin for mercy), represents the moment of dying.
The premiere of the puppetry ballet was at the Open Art Munich 2010, the following performances were at Schwartz Gallery, London 2011
The music for Turn Around Happening was written and played by composer and pianist Natia Sartania.
